Welcome to Sunnyside Education! My name is Mooni. I have an MEd from Loyola University Chicago and I have worked in private elementary school settings for the past decade. During the 2020-2021 school year, I found myself teaching a pod of four amazing first graders after the pandemic brought us together under unique but lucky circumstances. For a whole school year, I was able to get to know my students’ individual strengths, challenges, and the unique ways they learn. This experience reminded me how much I love providing instruction that is truly individualized.
My background in curriculum building and differentiated instruction prepared me to provide an at-home classroom environment that included 8 hours of instruction in core subjects as well as special subjects.
I crafted first grade curricula based on national and state standards that included thematic units while building in assessments and detailed differentiated lessons. Previously, I have taught grades 1-5 in core subjects (ELA, math, social studies, science, and foreign language instruction). I have experience providing student-centered instruction in mixed-grade classrooms, to neurodiverse students, as well as to students from a variety of linguistic backgrounds. I am passionate about culturally and emotionally responsive instruction, reading and language development, and allowing students to feel empowered about their educational progress regardless of age!
Sunnyside Education aims to provide learners customized, creative, and standards-based tutoring, long-term instruction, and tailored learning plans to help them grow and have fun doing it!
